Troubleshooting ghost, blank, or scrambled images
If your sensor unexpectedly captures ghost, blank, or scrambled images, the issue is often due to unintended electrical signals triggering the sensor.
Please note: These false triggers occur without any actual radiation exposure but can result in unusable images
Common Causes
- Faulty USB ports on the computer may send erratic signals to the sensor.
- Cable issues, such as shorts or damage in the sensor’s USB cable, can lead to false triggers.
- Interference from other USB connected devices, including:
- Keyboard and mouse receivers
- Intraoral cameras
- Scanners
- Charging cables
These devices can introduce electrical noise that disrupts the sensor’s normal operation.
Recommended Troubleshooting Steps
- Disconnect unnecessary USB devices from the computer.
- Avoid using USB hubs or extension cables. Instead, plug the sensor directly into a USB port on the computer.
- Test each USB port individually to determine if the issue is isolated to one, several, or all ports.
If the problem persists after these steps:
- Try the sensor on other workstations in your office to see if the issue is specific to one machine.
- If the issue is isolated to a single computer, the USB ports may be failing. In this case, contact your system administrator to inspect the hardware.
- If the sensor exhibits the same behavior across multiple computers, further investigation may be needed.
